Sunrise Highway

Along the mountain ridge separating the eastern San Diego County piney mountains near Julian, Ca from the scorching desert below (Borrego Springs-Salton Sea) runs the Sunrise Highway from Julian Ca. into Mt. Laguna...a fragrant and quaint mountain-top enclave.

A short trip from our home of just about 100 miles away, the Sunrise Highway offers gorgeous high altitude vistas, as well as striking reminders of the destructive capability of wildfire as we pass through areas still burned out from a fire of large magnitude which occured nearly a decade ago.

Between the magnificent mountain views and fresh mountain scents, to the desolate burn-zones of blackened tree stumps the Sunrise Highway is an interesting and engaging ride worth doing again.
