Temecula CA. to Paso Robles, CA. Taking some of Southern California's more historic and least travelled roads to "escape" the greater LA area, and make California's central coast we are joined by our good friend and fellow scooter nerd  Len for a nice couple days  of riding.

We decided to scoot to one of our favorite small California towns...Paso Robles, CA. Our friend accompanied my wife and I for a 3 day jaunt from our respective homes near San Diego to Paso Robles for a little R&R, a change of venue, and of course as good an excuse as any for an extended scooter ride.  The need to get through and out of LA on a weekday isn't a dream drive for anyone, let alone those of us on scooters. Our alternate and ultimately very good route was east into the San Bernardino mountains, northwest through the desert communities of Lancaster/Palmdale/Pearblossom and under I-5 at one of it's busiest spots...Gorman CA (often referred to as "The Grapevine") into Frazier Mountain Park.  We followed this mountainous route towards the oilfields of Taft, Maricopa, and McKittrick then west into Paso Robles.
