Borrego Springs at 113 degrees

While only 75 or so miles from our private residence, the ride out to Borrego Springs CA is always rewarding, from a scenery as well as a riding enjoyment sense of the word. In fact, we frequently ride over to Borrego for lunch, only to turn around to ride home afterwards. It's THAT kind of ride.

Borrego Springs all but rolls it's sidewalks up thru about mid-October starting right about...now, late May. The blistering summertime temps, chase away all but a very hearty few but we didn't let that stop us and forged ahead regardless. Check out the ambient  temperature displayed on my Piaggio BV350 below.  Our favorite local mexican food place there, had already closed for the season. We knew that going in and made the appropriate mental adjustments.

Accompanied by our friend Steve, we decided to take a quick overnighter to Borrego Springs, and once again raise the rent at Stanlunds' Resort there. A place known for it's vintage low-priced clean rooms, perfectly tempertured pool and supreme peace and quiet.

...it's also only a short stroll to the local convenience store. Just in case.

After riding down the curvaceous road (CA SR22) through the Anza-Borrego State Park into Borrego Springs and it's inhospitable pre-summertime temperatures,  we are in need of some, de-compression and hydration...stat!   Patty takes the role of head-nurse, and ensures nobody gets dehydrated in these extreme temperatures!

So, lolligagging in and around the pool, staying hydrated, and just generally visiting and BS'ing (that's Borrego Springs-ing)  was the order of the day for this memorable getaway of just over 24 hours.
