Route 66, the Mojave Desert. Late fall seemed like a good time to cross the Mojave Desert loosely following whats left of old Route 66 (yes, the one from the song...) between Barstow CA and Kingman AZ. Add in the Mojave National Preserve, some jackasses in Oatman Az, and a side trip to gambling's mini mecca, Laughlin NV and it was an action-packed few days on scooters.  (just the way I like it)

Barstow CA to an always strange Zyzzyx Ca, this trip covered some geography in a short time-frame.  Following several remaining remnants of the old Route 66 to and through Oatman AZ, and followed it past old gold mines, Cool Springs Station, and into Kingman AZ.  Along the way to Kingman, we encountered some zealous golfers on Zyzzyx Road, friendly jackasses (the 4-legged kind for a change) in Oatman AZ., and lots of sun baked asphalt in the Mojave National Preserve....but no Tortoise sightings despite numerous warnings to the contrary.
