Death Valley Junction, CA.  Meeting up with longtime friends Randy and Cathy somewhere warm seemed like a good idea.  A "bit" closer to our Southern California home than theirs in the pacific northwest, they made good time riding 2-up on their Vespa GTS250ie as they usually do. They are very experienced scooter and motorcycle tourists.

We decided on Death Valley Junction, and the only place there, the Amargosa Opera House and Hotel and made that our base of operations for poking around the southern end of Death Valley by scooter together for a few days.

Death Valley National Parks roads could be the benchmark for roads in any number of large cities. Despite the super high temps, the roads are well maintained, smooth, and wonderful to scoot on. We enjoyed riding the park's roadways to Badwater (the lowest spot below sea-level in the continental US), Ashford Ruins, Dante's View, and other points within the southern end of the park. What fun we had!

Death Valley Junction puts you within a short drive (by Death Valley standards)  of Death Valley National Park's southern end and close proximity to Dante's View, Badwater, Artist Drive/Artist's Pallete and other must-see Death Valley locations.
