Stovepipe Wells, Death Valley National Park. Yes, another trip to Death Valley!  But also visiting Mesquite Dunes, Badwater Basin, Artist Drive and Artist's Palette, and a side trip out of the park into Rhyolite Nevada just because it's sooo cool.  But on the way to the park, we also visit Randsburg, Garlock, and Olancha California...all interesting ghost towns in their own right.  Joined by fellow scooterist and rider, Steve who this time opted to ride his dual-sport machine. We zig-zagged across the desert in search of the odd, the barren, and the road less travelled.  We found it all, and then some.  All within a days round-trip ride from our "base of operations" Stovepipe Wells Village. Complete with pool, food, and gasoline!

The choice between attempting a washed-out road, and a 100+ mile (albeit scenic) detour north was too tempting. The washed-out Trona-Wildrose Road it is...and why not?  We all have extra fuel, it's early in the day, and the sense of adventure is hard to deny in the desert.  Off we go and successfully if not too gracefully make Trona, and reward ourselve with a late breakfast/early lunch before heading home to our respective civilized lives.
